What is a remount?
The definition of a remount is making use of a truck that already exists. We can remove the box from an ambulance that is old and tired, and put a new chassis underneath. Because we are reusing some of the key components of the truck, particularly not having to manufacture a new box, we can pass tremendous cost savings on to our customers. And during the remount process we’re able to refurbish and update select pieces of the truck to meet whatever price point our customers are trying to reach.

What is the benefit of remounting my existing ambulance?
The primary benefit of the remount strategy is financial. We really do help our customers save dollars. We utilize the box that already exists by saving the time and money it takes to both manufacture the shell and install all the cabinetry. And during our remount process we’re able to strip down and refurbish the components that need to be refurbished. At the end of the process our customers end up with a top of the line, quality product, as you would by purchasing a new truck.
How long does the Remount process take?
We have the remount process condensed to about six working weeks. We will schedule your truck in at the right time, or start with the Gen2 box, we can completely refurbish and remount your truck to your specifications within those six working weeks.

Why is our process better than others?
Because we deal with many different brands and manufacturers of ambulances, we know the right ways and the wrong ways to remount a box. There are a lot of companies in the industry today that don’t have the experience needed to know all the different manufacturers’ unique features, such as A/C, heat and electrical systems. Taking used ambulances apart methodically and putting them back together correctly are the real differentiators between a good remount, and a ‘not so good’ remount.
Do I need an existing box in order to do business with Arrow?
Our customers have options. If you have an existing box that you’re comfortable with, we can make use of that particular box and start the remount process with it. If you’re interested in upgrading or adding some new features that aren’t possible with your box, we have a large inventory of modules that our customers can choose from as a starting point. Using a box from our inventory really gives customers the opportunity to browse the benefits and options of several different ambulance manufacturers.
Why aren’t remounts more common?
Remounting hasn’t been as common as building new trucks. Buying a new, made-from-scratch vehicle has always been the traditional way of buying a new truck. Remounting is commonly misunderstood. Manufacturers that have tried remounting may have the reputation of not doing it the right way. What makes Arrow different is our ability to leverage our years of experience, knowledge of product specifications and general know-how to create a good final package for our customers.
Can Arrow help me decide what option is best for me?
The decision making process is really different for everyone. Whether you’re volunteer based or a paid for service, your needs may be very unique. But making the decision to remount normally involves a common list of questions. Some questions may be budgetary, some may be focused around the features available in each truck. Because Arrow has been in the remounting business for over 25 years, we can help guide you in a direction that best fits your needs.
When remounting isn’t the best option, what should I look for in a new truck?
Remounting may not be an option for everyone, and at some point buying a new truck is necessary. If you’re looking to buy a new truck, we can help to ensure that you buy a truck that is able to be remounted in the future. By purchasing a truck with the intention of remounting it in the future, you’ll be able to plan for financial savings several years in advance. We believe that our remounted ambulances are as good as the new trucks being built today, but the product does have to start somewhere, and at some point.
Can I convert to a different type of truck?
Customers are often interested in converting their truck to a different type. Whether that be changing the truck type from a Type I to a Type III, or converting from a diesel chassis to a gas chassis, we’re able to help. This comes with the understanding that every truck is different, and every situation may have its own limitations. Our understanding of the different vehicles and manufacturers helps our customers end up with exact truck they want, for the best possible price.
Why have I never heard of remounting?
Remounts are not well understood because they make up such a small percentage of the ambulance market. The financial aspects of recent years have driven customers to think twice about their purchases, and be smarter about their money. We’re helping customers understand how remounting can save them money when they’re making the decision to purchase a new ambulance.
